Determinism

Determinism was made popular by John Calvin in the 16th century.  It is a theological belief system that claims, people have no ability to control their destiny.  Instead, God has predetermined their entire life.  It is sometimes referred to as Predestination or Calvinism.

  1. Quite right this heresy was invented by Calvin which also stated that only a certain number of people “the elect” would be saved regardless of their outward appearance of being pious. The doctrine went on to expound upon the fact that even those who felt in their hearts they were Christians might likely be damned due to their not being chosen as the elect. This of course fly’s in the face of logic and orthodox theology which is why you find this doctrine very rarely in modern times outside of Evangelical Presbyterian Churches.
