What is a Christian?

What is a Christian?

That seems like an easy question to answer; however, it can be a bit complicated.  The typical definition of a Christian is a follower of Jesus Christ, but what does that look like in the real world?

I know people that call themselves Christians, but their hearts are full of hate and self-righteousness.  They constantly put down those that are different from them and talk about how they have found the real truth.  They truly believe they are followers of Christ.

I have also known Christians that are full of love.  In the past few months I have been blessed to interact with some of these people.  They teach the gospel of Christ, without degrading those that are different.  They are humble and willing to admit their imperfections.  They are pleasant to be around and make me want to be a better person.

These people have given me a different perspective of what being a Christian can actually mean.

  1. Cathey Collinsworth says:

I am a Christian. I give my best effort to live and show my faith, but I fail more times than not. I ask forgiveness and receive it because that’s what Jesus does, therefore, I do the same. I belong to a baptist church and a congregation of believers who lift me up as I do them. Churches are more hospitals for the sick – and we all are – Christian or not. My grandmother often said, “Keep your eyes on Jesus and not on man.” Man will surely fail us, but God never will.
