When I was a kid, we had Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back on VHS tapes. Aaron and I loved those movies and watched them for what seemed like a million times. We would watch one of them, rewind the tape, and then watch it again.
In 1983, Return of the Jedi was released in movie theaters all around the world. When the movie came out, we were living in Mannheim, Germany. I remember how excited we were to see Return of the Jedi.
We got to the theater early to make sure we could get a ticket. Once we made it into the building, we bought large cokes, boxes of popcorn, and various other snack items. We were gorging on junk food while we waited for the movie to start.
We also spent the time talking about Han Solo’s capture and hoping he would be saved by Luke Skywalker. The anticipation was building inside us, until we thought we would explode. We just had to know what was going to happen to our hero.
After the movie, Aaron and I both agreed we should come back the next day and watch it again.
Happy Star Wars Day my friends and May the 4th be with you.
