Question for WordPress Bloggers

Has anyone tried one of the premium WordPress templets?  Did you think it was worth the extra money?

I have considered upgrading to a premium template, because I thought it might be easier to personalize my blog.  However, I am not convinced they are better than the free ones.

  1. I’m in the same position, currently on free but looking at the premium options to move forward. I would also be interested to hear this feedback.

One thing I have found so far, is that I have not found any disappointment with anything I do with WordPress.

I tried a premium site but it didn’t suit my photographs, and it didn’t look anything like the demo. The good thing is that wordpress will refund your money if you dont like it. I cancelled almost immediately and the money was back in my bank within a couple of days. So no problem if you want to try it out.

  3. I bought a premium package that includes access to the premium templates. I mainly wanted the extra storage space. I’m not sure whether the template I’m using now is premium or free. I think it’s free. Anyway, one nice thing about the premium template is you can get things fixed that don’t seem to work well. I did that once. I’m not sure they are worth it just for that.

  4. You can always tweak certain parameters of the page appearance to your liking. Unless you’re running a page that’s looking to make money It doesn’t seem worth it to me. Nor does it seem worth it to get your “.com” – It used to be some kind of status symbol, but I think having a blog address is perfectly acceptable these days. Why have a monthly bill? If I need space in the future I would have to purchase it but I’ve been blogging for 6 years and haven’t run out yet.

  5. I have and came back to free because at the end they are not much easier to edite according to your wishes, to many stones on the road, unless you are looking to make money with your page. You cant do this because…, you cant do that because….
I am talking on my behalf because I want my blog to be clean and adds free. For it is not worth to pay because there are plenty of nice free templates when you want to keep things simple.

Perhaps a look at the bigger picture is informative:

The real truth is that plugins, themes, or templates are often not the biggest problem for most WordPress users. They want to get traffic, they want an online business. The reality is that most sites never get more than a handful of visitors. And without traffic, income is hard to come by. In other words, No traffic = No profits.

Keep adding or changing plugins, themes, templates and other features does not solve their real problem. WordPress “as is” won’t build an online business. It’s missing a do-able start-to-finish BUSINESS process.

Surely, you can slog through the mountains of business building advice and tools that are out there. But for most WordPress users it all ends up being too much.

So, despite the dazzling display of WordPress features, the reality for most (non-tech) people who want to create a web business with WordPress is that they need to adhere to an easy-to-follow, all-in-one, proven, ethical webbusiness-building system (not a get rich quick scheme), tailored to the WordPress platform, to get (1) a significant amount of traffic and get (2) targeted traffic (example of such a system: WealthPrinciples dot net).

Otherwise you’ll end up having (and building) only a WordPress webSITE (or BLOG) but not a webBUSINESS.

  7. I haven’t really looked at any of the options for premium and am very satisfied with the free plan. I did get my own domain name – just because I wanted it, but that is about as far as I wanted to go. My blog is just for fun.

I use a free WordPress template. For some time I’ve toyed with the idea of buying a domain – feeling that it would somehow be more secure. The reason I’ve not done so is that I’m mortally afraid of losing what few followers I have. Out of desperation I’ve played around with my free template and now have it looking pretty much the way I want it. My only concern now is that it will disappear somehow and I won’t have a backup for all my hard work. God…. I sound like an insecure weeny….
