A Scared Overcomer

I was born with inner ear deformities, so I am used to having massive ear infections and surgeries.  However, this is the worst infection I have ever had.  As I mentioned yesterday, it caused me to develop Bells Palsy and now the left side of my face is partially paralyzed.

The doctor was optimistic yesterday and thinks I will reagin control of my facial muscles, but it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months.  Unfortunately, there is also a possibility that I will never regain control of my facial muscles.

I am an overcomer and I know I will learn to deal with whatever happens in the future. However, I still feel scared and apprehensive about it.

  1. I understand your condition. I too, have inner ear issues. My condition causes a type of vertigo. Have to do PT to retrain my brain to reinterpret the signals my ears send. It is only a mild nuisance. Doctors are great with these issues. Good luck!

  2. It’s okay to be scared. Just try not to dwell on that aspect. I had a neighbor who developed Bells Palsy and he was fine in a couple of months. He thought he looked terrible, but, if you didn’t know he had it, you couldn’t really tell. Hang in there and I hope it goes away sooner than later.

  3. Hi Lynn:
After reading a bit about Bells Palsey, I can see why you are concerned, I know I would be. But….yup….one of my favorite words .. .but, as you mentioned, you are an overcomer, and just treat it as yet another hurdle to overcome in this journey of life we are all on. We will keep you in our prayers that this is just a short bump in the road of life and you will pass it by soon and before you know it, it will be yet another thing you have overcome.
    Take care.

  4. Anyone would be scared in the circumstances. You know all your online friends will be there for you and wishing you a speedy recovery. Anytime you feel the need to talk we’re only a few taps away.
Huge Hugs and Wishing you a Merry Christmas.

  5. Lord Jesus, I lift up Lynn and lay her at the foot of your cross tonight. I aak that you would allow her to feel your Presence all around her, that you would allay her fears, and that you would touch her with your loving hands and restore her health and wholeness. It is your name, the Name above all names, Jesus, that I pray and ask. Amen! 🙂 ❤

  6. Lynn, I had a stroke many years ago. It left me with paralyzation on the right side. Everything on that side feels like I’m feeling it through bulky wool. I chewed gum for the longest time on that size of my mouth to get the muscles to work even though the feeling was and still is so muted. My mouth still droops a little when I’m tired.

I wish you didn’t have to go through this.
