The Golden Rule (Matthew 7:12-14)

The Golden Rule is found in Matthew 7:12-14, and it teaches us to treat others as we would want them to treat us.

This requires empathy on our part.  We must take the time to understand how the other person feels and to see the situation from their prospective.  Then we will be able to treat them in the same way we would want to be treated.

  1. Sometimes, when someone is treating me poorly, I think, well, if they are treating me the way they want to be treated…….. But, then I think better of it and try to be nice. I really do try to empathize and do my best to treat others with dignity and respect and love. I fail sometimes, but I try.

  2. This is definitely key to remember…I was brought up by my grannie and will always have these words in mind…treat others as you yourself would want to be treated, with respect, kindness…caring. This has been something I always am guided by…even if sometimes it’s not easy based on differences in thought and sometimes seeing another’s view is vastly different from mine…that’s when you dig deep. Great words to live by Lynn.
