Christian by Name Only (Matthew 7:15-29)

Jesus warned his followers about false prophets, so they would not be lead away from the truth.  He told the people, you will know the false prophets by their fruit.

Their true character will be seen in their actions.  Pay attention not just to their words or even to how they act in public settings, instead determine how they live their private life.

Jesus also tells them on the last day the false prophets will say, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do mighty works in your name?”  The false prophets were outwardly religious and tried to look good in front of people, but their hearts were evil.  Jesus tells the false prophets, “I never knew you.”

Our faith should be built on the rock of Jesus Christ, not on the shifting sand of worldly teachers.  The winds and the rains will come, but if our faith is built on the rock it will stand.
