Writing Advice

Anne Lamott’s book Bird by Bird gives a brief explanation as to how she got into writing as a career and gives advice to those who want to become writers.  It was fun to read and I learned a great deal from it.

Here are a few examples:

  • Good writing is about telling the truth.
  • Break your writing project into short assignments.
  • All first drafts are terrible.
  • Perfectionism will ruin your writing.
  • Life is a series of short stories.

I love the advice and want to read the book! I’ve been a contracted writer for three years for a small paper doing human interest stories. I love writing and start books, then don’t finish them. I need all the help I can get! LOL.
