I am severely allergic to avocados. In the past this was only an issue when I went to a Mexican restaurant. However, things have changed and avocados are becoming more popular.
I noticed avocados showing up in salad dressings, soups, and sandwiches. It also can be found in shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I even encountered a cake made with avocados.
This avocado madness is making me nervous, because now I have to look for it everywhere.
I was walking through thick brush and not paying attention to the foliage around me, until my legs became insnared by a thorn bush. I looked down and noticed I was surrounded by poison ivy.
My legs had multiple welts and were extremely itchy. A friend recommended washing my legs in rubbing alcohol, because it will dry up the welts and remove all the poison from my skin.
I was skeptical, but willing to give it a try. To my amazement the rubbing alcohol did a fantastic job. I can still see a few spots on my legs, but they do not itch at all.
If you ever end up with poison ivy, try rubbing alcohol. It works wonders.
Spring is beginning
Flowers are blooming
Rain is falling
Children are playing
Birds are signing
Grass is growing
And I am sneezing
I purchased gifts for my family and for our guest on Easter Sunday.
I remembered my mom saying, Cathi enjoys planting flowers and gardening. I found a Campbell’s heirloom tomato planting kit. The kit looked so cute. I thought Cathi would enjoy growing her own tomatoes.
However, I forgot Cathi is highly allergic to tomatoes. Touching a tomato can cause her to break out in a rash. That’s right, Cathi can’t even touch the gift I bought for her.
This has to be the worst gift ever.
I have been congested the last few days, so that means I’m snotty today (not snotty in attitude, but snotty in my nose).
I find this humorous for some reason.
I knew I was allergic to some type of food, but I had no idea what. The reactions usually happened after eating Mexican food, but it also happened when I was eating other things.
It always started out the same. I would get really hot and sweat profusely. Then my stomach would cramp and I would feel nauseous. In less than an hour, I was vomiting and had diarrhea. My lips, face, throat, and inside my ears would itch. My eyelids started to swell and the itching sensation spread thourgh out my body.
It was a horrible and painful experience. I would need several doses of Benadryl to contract the reaction.
I went to the allergy doctor and had several test done. The result – I am allergic to avocados.
This morning, I had an allergic reaction to something. My face, lips, inside my ears, the roof of my mouth, back, and shoulders were itching like crazy. I took several doses of Benadryl, which helped tremendously. However, it also made me sleepy and left me with that drugged out feeling.
Gwen volunteered to cook dinner tonight, since I wasn’t feeling well. She fixed a pot of spaghetti and it tasted wonderful. There are no leftovers, so that tells you much everyone enjoyed dinner tonight.
Thanks for the help Gwen!
