I agree with the author’s premise. There are many situations we cannot change in our life. However, our attitude has a huge impact on our emotions and how we deal with those uncontrollable events.
The book contains numerous examples of people who are satisfied with their life situations, even though they are suffering from grief, life threatening illnesses, and other tragic events. Their stories demonstrated practical applications for each of the lessons taught in this book.
We may not be able to change our circumstances, but we can change our life by living out the following attitudes: gratitude, confidence, perseverance, open-mindedness, faith, commitment, hope, compassion, determination, humility, joy, trust, and ownership.
Jones is one of the main characters in the book. Jones notices things about people and helps them in times of trouble. He teaches people how to gain a new perspective on their life. He shows them how to be the person they want to be. Many lives were dramatically changed, due to Jones.
A few of the principles taught by Jones are:
- The struggles of life give us the strength we need to succeed in the future.
- Read about the lives of great people, read about their struggles, their failures, and their success. The experience of others is the best teacher.
- If you continually focus on your needs, you will continually find things you need. Instead, focus on the blessings you already have in life. Gratitude will fill your life with happiness and abundance.
- Happy and enthusiastic people are able to influence those around them.
This was a fun book to read and it’s defiantly a book worth reading multiple times.
In Matthew 20:26-28, Jesus was telling his disciples how to be great in His kingdom. Jesus defines greatness and leadership in a way that is contrary to what we normally see in the world.
According to Jesus, having power or privilege is not what makes you great. Being able to force others to obey you and serve you, does not make you great.
What makes a person great in the Kingdom of God? Jesus tells us that to be great, to be a leader in His Kingdom, we must be willing to serve. We must also have an attitude of humility.
It’s our willingness to humble ourselves and serve others that will make us great people and great leaders in this world and in the Kingdom of God.
I have been congested the last few days, so that means I’m snotty today (not snotty in attitude, but snotty in my nose).
I find this humorous for some reason.
