Several years ago, I decided to read about the history of parking meters. I know, it doesn’t exactly sound like a thriller. However, it was interesting.
What really surprised me was the location of the first parking meter. I would have guessed an extremely large city like New York or Chicago. I was wrong. The first parking meter was installed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Go figure….
Our trip to Nashville wouldn’t be complete without a walk downtown. The city was hopping with people everywhere having a good time. I will say, the number of mobile taverns caught me by surprise.
As a country girl, my favorite part of the downtown area was Capital Park. It was beautiful and peaceful.
Huntsville Hospital is located in downtown Huntsville, Alabama, and it has a very interesting history.
The city started out with a small infirmary, but the building was inadequate. Huntsville Hospital moved to its current location in 1904. Mollie Teal donated the building and land to the city. Prior to the donation, she used the property to run a prostitution business.
From house of ill repute to city hospital, I think that’s an interesting story.
I personally prefer living in the country. I love the peacefulness and the feeling of being close to nature. I like having a lot of space between me and my neighbors.
Which do you prefer living in the country or living in the city?
