Attitude Is Your Paintbrush by James Moore

I agree with the author’s premise.  There are many situations we cannot change in our life.  However, our attitude has a huge impact on our emotions and how we deal with those uncontrollable events.

The book contains numerous examples of people who are satisfied with their life situations, even though they are suffering from grief, life threatening illnesses, and other tragic events.  Their stories demonstrated practical applications for each of the lessons taught in this book.

We may not be able to change our circumstances, but we can change our life by living out the following attitudes:  gratitude, confidence, perseverance, open-mindedness, faith, commitment, hope, compassion, determination, humility, joy, trust, and ownership.

Sci-Fi Fan Part-Time

I am not a Sci-Fi fanatic, but I do enjoy the genre.  I guess I am more of a part-time Sci-Fi fan.  Anyway, I like Sci-Fi films and books for three main reasons.

  • It makes me feel as if the future is full of unlimited potential.
  • The scenarios are creative and complex.
  • The characters overcome extreme obstacles to defeat evil in whatever form it may take.

If you are a Sci-Fi fan or fanatic, let me know why it appeals to you.  I’m curious.

Who Controls You?

Who controls you?  Do you have an internal or an external locus of control?

Those who believe outside forces completely determine what will happen to them, have an external locus of control.  They view obstacles as insurmountable and believe they are unable to change their life circumstances.

Those who believe they can impact their life through their own actions, have an internal locus of control.  They are not immune to unfortunate  events, trauma, or other obstacles.  However, they focus on finding solutions to their problems.

It is important to notice, bad things happen to people in both groups.  The difference is in how they view negative events and in how they deal with the problems created by those events.

This Ain’t Nothing

This song has great meaning to me and I find it inspirational.  First, it reminds me to remember what’s important in my life.  Second, it makes me think about all the hardships, obstacles, and even the horrible experiences that almost destroyed me in the past.

I am still here.  I am an overcomer, so I know I can handle whatever life throws my way.  I look at the newest obstacles in my life, think about what I already conquered, and say to myself, “This ain’t nothing.”

  • As a side note, I apologize to all the grammar police out there.  You can send your completes to Craig Morgan, if it makes you feel better.

Finding Dory – Movie Review

finding-dory-teaser

We watched Finding Dory today and I thought the movie was super cute.

I enjoyed watching Dory overcome her struggles and use her strengths to find the family she lost years ago.

The movie also had some important life lessons:

  • There is always another way, so don’t give up, and keep swimming

If you get a chance to see Finding Dory this summer, go for it.  I give this movie an A+

A Single Red Rose

I was in a dark dingy factory and all the workers had matching grey uniforms.  The whole place seemed depressing, there was no beauty in this place.

Then I saw it.  There it was.  A single red rose.  It sat on a window sill.  The red was a sharp contrast to its surroundings.  Its beauty radiated out, like a single star on a cold dark night.

This rose became a symbol of hope for me.  At that moment, I realized beauty will always shine through, no matter how bad the circumstances.  In fact it shines the brightest in the worst of places.
