I came across a news article about two elderly German men that escaped from a nursing home in order to attend a heavy metal concert.
When the nursing home realized the gentlemen were missing, they called the police. The police located both men at the concert at 3:00 in the morning and drove them back to the facility in a police car.
My first reaction – I want to be like those guys when I am old.
I want to still have the desire to escape in the night, to attend concerts, to feel wild, to bend rules, to express my individuality, to cause trouble, and to make people shake their heads in wonder.
A few days ago, I posted a couple of photos of Mom and Aunt Kathy. While I was looking for those pictures, I came across a few photos of my grandparents (Frank and Edith Lynn) and my great-grandparents (Otis and Ollie Lynn).
I look at these photos and wonder about their lives. They were just doing normal things, going to school, getting married, raising their children, and working at various jobs.
However, time moves quickly. Their children grew up, moved away, and had their own children. Those children also grew up, moved away, and had their own children. And so it continued….
My great-grandparents and grandparents are no longer living. However, their legacy is still here. It continues through stories, pictures, even some character traits that seem to be genetic in nature.
Even when there is nobody left that remembers them, their legacy will continue to live on in our family.
I like walking around the downtown area and looking at the old houses. A few of the houses have been standing for over 100 years.
I wonder about the people that lived in the house when it was sparkling and new. Did they have fancy parties? Was there a beautiful horse and buggy that would roll up to the front door?
How many families have called this place home over the years? Did anyone ever die in that house? Was anyone ever murdered in that house?
What secrets does the house know?
Does anyone else think about such things? Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I’m just weird.
