Human Spirit Strong

You are stronger than you think, because you are a human being.

Mankind has overcome natural disasters, wars, tyranny, atrocities done by our own kind, and a massive list of other obstacles or difficulties.  However, the human spirit refused to surrender.  Humans continue surviving, regardless of the circumstances.

Don’t underestimate yourself or your power as a human being.  You are stronger than you think.

Hammock Thoughts

IMG_2318.JPG

I was laying in the hammock and looking at the blue sky above me.  A few white clouds slowly passed over head.  Bees and butterflies were flittering around the yard.  Birds were in a tree nearby and signing a beautiful song.  The warmth of the sun radiated against my skin.

Everything seemed so peaceful and it bore down to my soul.  I felt tranquility flowing throughout my entire body.  I wondered to myself, why I rarely spend time in the hammock.

This is something I can and should enjoy more often in my life.  In fact, I think we all could benefit from having such a place in our lives.

Heart of a Fighter

Gwen was born nineteen years ago today.  She was 3 months premature and only weighed 2 pounds 2 ounces.  Gwen spent the first few months of her life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, with all kinds of tubes and IV’s coming out of her little body.

It was a precarious time and her survival was far from guaranteed.  In spite of it all, Gwen managed to thrive and is now a beautiful young woman.

My message for Gwen on her birthday, never forget you have the heart of a fighter.  You proved that by surviving and thriving during those first few months of life.  That strength and spirit will always be within you.  When struggles come your way, remember you have the heart of a fighter and you will prevail.

Finding Joy by Charlotte Davis Kasl

Fluffy is a good word to describe this book.  The book is full of weird ideas designed to help you feel better about life.

One example, create a self-esteem chorus.  A self-esteem chorus is a group of people that sit around a person and tell the person they are wonderful.

The idea of asking a bunch of people to circle around me and tell me how wonderful I am, just seems a bit weird and pretentious.  Also, how could you actually take it serious.  They are saying these things, because you asked them to say it.

I will never read this book again.  I think I will donate it to the local thrift store.  I am sure someone out there will enjoy it.
